Panoramic X-rays are capture extraorally, using a rotating mechanical arm to capture images of your face and teeth. This type of X-rays is highly versatile, and helpful in planning treatments. They are taken on an as-needed basis, and provide dentists with detailed images of the sinus and nasal areas, and the mandibular (jaw) nerve. Panoramic X-rays are the preferred radiograph option when patients are in extreme pain and when sinus problems are suspected to be causing complications in your dental health. Additionally, no radiation enters the body as a result of a panoramic X-rays, making them safer than other types of X-rays.
