When you visit AZ Dental, either for a routine dental checkup or to consult with our dentists about a restorative or cosmetic procedure, we will use digital X-rays to capture high-quality images of your teeth and supporting structures. Digital X-rays help us detect problems such as tooth decay in the early stages of development, and aid us in planning effective treatments to help you regain your oral health. We welcome you to call us at 408-437-1111 for more information about digital X-rays in San Jose, California, and to schedule your appointment with Drs. Navdeep Aulakh, Parin Patel, Kevin Hashemi, Heidi Lee, Nipa Shetha, Victoria Furman, Allan Pang, Lynna Bui, The Phan, Anthony Nguyen, Hesham Amer, and Anastasios Photopoulos.
Digital radiography (X-rays) uses an electronic sensor to capture and store digital images of your teeth, allowing our dentists to quickly and easily view them and diagnose any problems that may be developing. Digital X-rays are an excellent tool for diagnosing many types of dental problems, including:
- Bone loss
- Tooth decay
- Poor tooth and roto positions
- Developmental abnormalities
- Problems inside a tooth or below the gum line
This technology is completely safe for use. Digital X-rays produce 80-90% less radiation than the already low exposure of traditional film X-rays. They also do not require any toxic materials to develop film, eliminating a significant amount of harmful waste. Additionally, digital X-rays are quick and comfortable to use, meaning that you spend less time in our office.
All new patients should receive a full mouth series of X-rays. These images are usually good for 3-5 years. Bitewing X-rays (images of your top and bottom teeth biting together) will be taken during your dental checkups. Our dentists and hygienists will recommend other necessary X-rays based on your current oral health, the review of your medical and dental history, dental exam, age, and risk of disease.
