When your teeth have been damaged, AZ Dental can provide porcelain dental inlays and onlays to restore the beauty and function of your smile. Inlays and onlays are a conservative treatment often recommended to repair teeth that have large, defective fillings or have experienced decay. We welcome you to call us at 408-437-1111 to make your appointment with Drs. Navdeep Aulakh, Parin Patel, Kevin Hashemi, Heidi Lee, Nipa Shetha, and Victoria Furman and learn more about porcelain inlays and onlays in San Jose, California.
Inlays and onlays, also known as partial crowns, are custom-made restorations. They are created in dental labs and are permanently cemented to your teeth to produce long-lasting restorations. Inlays and onlays are recommended treatments for:
- Broken or fractured teeth
- Decayed teeth
- Fractured fillings
- Large fillings
- Cosmetic enhancement
Inlays and onlays are frequently provided as alternatives to fillings and crowns. Inlays and onlays are nearly identical, but onlays are used when one or more of the cusps (the pointed ends of the tooth) are affected by the damage and need to be included in the restoration.
You will need to plan two appointments when receiving an inlay or onlay. At your first appointment, our dentists will take impressions, remove any decay or old filling materials, and clean and prepare the tooth for the restoration. A temporary filling will be placed while your inlay or only is created. When you return for your second appointment, our dentists will place the inlay or onlay, check it for a proper fit, and cement it in place.
