AZ Dental offers dental sealants to help prevent cavities and other problems from developing on your child’s teeth. Sealants block out food particles, debris, and harmful bacteria, and are especially effective when used in combination with other preventive treatments. We invite you to call us at 408-437-1111 to schedule your appointment with Dr. Allan Pang and learn more about dental sealants in San Jose, California.

Pediatric dentists offer dental sealants to protect children’s molars from oral bacteria and harmful oral acids in the mouth. The bacteria that cause tooth decay often congregate in the grooves, pits, and fissures of the molars, the areas where it is difficult to clean with regular brushing.

Most dental sealants are made of clear or tooth-colored liquid plastic. When we provide your child with a sealant, our dentist thoroughly cleans and prepares the molars, and then paints the sealant onto the targeted teeth. When the teeth are coated completely, the sealant is hardened to complete the treatment. The entire process can be completed in just one visit to our practice, and is painless.

Dental sealants are typically applied at about age 6, when the molars begin to erupt. They may need to be replaced several times as they begin to wear off. Please remember that sealants do not enhance the health of your child’s teeth directly. They are not a substitute for good oral hygiene habits, regular dental cleanings, or fluoride treatments.
