Dental Crowns: The Procedure at Our Office

Posted .

If you believe a dental crown might be a good fit for one or more of your teeth, you might be onto something. Still, you’ll want to have all the information before you make your decision. That’s why AZ Dental is here to tell you about how our office will install that dental crown.

Typically, we can complete the process in only two visits. During the first visit, your tooth will be examined and primed. To make sure the tooth is free of decay, we will do an oral exam, complete with x-rays. Dr. Navdeep Aulakh will then tenderly shave some of the tooth enamel to make space for the crown. Alternatively, if too much of the outer tooth layer is already lost, we may use filling material to build up its structure. Dr. Navdeep Aulakh will then generate a copy of the tooth and surrounding areas called an impression. After this, we will fit you with a temporary crown to shield your tooth.

Throughout the following days, the impression will be sent to a local dental laboratory where your custom-made crown will be fashioned to fit the exact qualifications of your mouth.

During the second visit, we’ll take out the temporary crown and trade it for the permanent crown. Dr. Navdeep Aulakh will check that it fits well with the rest of your smile and that the color matches your other teeth accurately. If all is well, the only thing that remains is for you to enjoy your new set of pearly whites.

If you would like a dental crown, your part in the process is easy. Simply call AZ Dental in San Jose, California at 408-437-1111 and show up on the day we both arrange. We’ll take care of the rest and give you your best smile yet!
